A simpler way to convert

Three steps to the right measure.

  1. Choose an ingredientDensity changes the answer.
  2. Check the cup standardUS, metric or Australian.
  3. Convert and keep cookingUse the number or a scale.

Start with what is in your bowl

Choose your ingredient before converting between weight and volume. Flour, sugar and honey occupy different amounts of space at the same weight, so a single grams-to-cups rule cannot cover them all.

Keep the recipe moving

Enter an amount, choose the units and read the result. Switch direction when your recipe uses cups but your scale measures grams. The conversion tools share the same ingredient references and unit definitions.

Small details, better measurements

Every ingredient result names the ingredient form and cup system. Keep an eye on words such as packed, sifted or chopped in your recipe. Those details can change how much fits in the cup.

A few useful answers

Kitchen questions, answered.

Can I convert any ingredient from grams to cups?

Choose a supported ingredient with a published reference weight. If your ingredient or preparation is missing, use the recipe author’s gram measurement or measure it directly instead of borrowing another ingredient’s value.

Is 50 grams always the same number of cups?

No. On our default reference, 50 grams of all-purpose flour is approximately 0.42 US cups. A different ingredient or cup system gives a different answer.

Which cup system should I use?

Use the one specified by your recipe. The default is US customary. Metric and Australian settings are labelled separately.
